Hi,
I posted a week ago about the possibility of upgrading my 1.6 Astra convertible to a newer turbo model. Unfortunately due to cost and availability I am thinking of putting the upgrade idea on hold until next year.

For now I am thinking of adding a bodykit a spoiler, a new grille and some nice 17 inch alloys to my current convertible.

Having never fitted a kit before I am wondering wether I send the kit to a spray shop and have it painted first then fit, or if I need to fit it to my car and then get it painted?

I have just had a scrape repaired on my back bumper courtesy of somebody who decided to drive off without telling me :( My local chipsaway guy did a cracking job on it for £95. I can't even tell it had been damaged :) I was thinking of asking them to do the paintwork.

So which way do I go, paint first or fit bodykit then paint??

Save your money and looks elsewhere - for the asking price that kit is not gonna be up to much cop IMO, fit or quality wise.

Thats what i was thinking, for that money the kit will probaly be very
thin and not up to much at all, which will end up cracking and
or breaking very quickly, when it come to bodykits i have almost
always found that u are beter paying a bit more in the first
place rather than having to have it repaired all the time
although this isnt always the case

as above - stay clear in my opinion....and whatever u do dont get anything from Joy Tuning on ebay they are equally as infamous and to quote a certain person their quality of kits is "either dubious or shit" . Save some dough and get a quality kit. Good luck whatever u decide!

Cheap body kits are, to a certain extent, false economy as they may cost more to get them to fit, prepare and paint than a "decent" one.

Fibreglass kits are OK, but only if they come with TUV certification, but even then they will be more brittle and susceptible to damage than plastic

Thanks for the advice on kits guys.
Could somebody please suggest a kit that isn't too over the top and won't break the bank? I prefer subtle to bold and brash which is why I liked the kit I mentioned earlier as it wasn't like huge bumper replacements etc.
Also can someone suggest anywhere online to buy them? I checked out LMF but they seem awfully expensive on there.

but the Reiger GT-R kit looks the dogs bolocks on a coupe..

I purchased the JDL kit for my convertible, from the same ebay buyer.
Came in 3 separate parcells about a week to arrive.

Yes these are dirt cheap
You would be suprised at the quality, its rather nice and strong.
Not much to fix to though. Mine is mainly glued on. Done by a bodyshop

Looking at yours tizy it looks a pretty decent fit.
I like the side and rear of that kit , but not too keen on the front, just seems to stick out a lot.

I wanted a big front spoiler, but couldnt find one to fit.

Vauxhall and other companies told me that the front end on my car was different from the non convertible astra. Im still looking for some type of big spoiler.

The kit was a good fit, but the back spoiler had a bit play on it. Still looks good enough for me anyway.

I seen the same kit fitted on a coupe today un painted and ot did seem to bad a fit tbh I have seen so much worse
