hi guys n gals! my irmy spoiler had been in my bedroom for about a month now n iv decided its time i get it sprayed up and on the car for the summer! A bodyshop is going to spray it but need i need 2 sand it dwn and prime it if neccessary before giving it to them. just wanted to ask as its already sprayed a different colour will i need to sand all the old paint off or just sand it dwn enough and maybe giv it a few layers of primer? either way if anyone cud point me towards what grade wet and dry paper to use and what sort of primer or filler then i can get it done this weekend!
also cud any who has the spoiler fitted post a close up picture of the posts, i just want to see roughly how far in from the edge of the boot they are mounted

Cheers!!

take the laquer off with 800 grit wet and dry using the paper wet. then just rub some of the paint down underneath being equal all over the spoiler, then let the painter do the rest as he might prefer his primer to halfords stuff.

no no no.
wet flat it all but try not to break through the laquer. doing this could cause reactions as the thinners in the paint will disolve the original paint and cause it to pickle up.
also unless there is any marks on it you wont need to primer it. just make sure it is flatted all over and there are no blemishes/marks/scratches.
if it is base coat and laquer you will need 0.2L of thinned basecoat and about the same of laquer, if it is direct gloss, you will need about 0.2 of thinned article. if you do need to break through the paint, then only primer localy around that area. then flat back with p800 wet. use u-pol high build plastic primer-great stuff.

hope this helps
