Default Finished at last

well i finished dressing up the 'bay. All the red conduit is on, covered pretty much everythin. All the red hoses are on, apart from the rad hoses which are still on order. I've tightened all the jubilee clips up, bolted the tank down, and checked it all over.

Filled up the tank slowly - no leaks. Started up and left to run - no leaks. Drove to a shop and checked - no leaks. So far so good. On the way back from the shop, the temp needle was perilously close to 100, i thought 'ey up, something isn't right. Then as i looked in my rearview, there was a big colud of steam, uh oh! Managed to get home slowly. Took a look under the bonnet, no water, hmmm. Checked all the new hoses, no leaks anywhere, or in the tank.

As i looked down towards the radiator, i spotted the problem. When i was measuring the ID of the rad pipes, i'd forgotten to replace the jubilee clip that holds one of them on. The whole pipe had come away fro9m the radiator and dumped boiling hot coolant everywhere, OOOPPS!

Sorry Dave I don't like that look at all. Makes the engine bay look untidy IMO, it may be better if the engine cover was reinstalled but far too much spagetti look to it for me.

I am interested in where your getting the 2 main rad hoses from in red though, if they'll do them in red they should do them in blue

Also how did you get round the fact that the header tank to rad pipe is 2 different diameters? it's much thinner at the header tank end than at the rad end, you appear to have used the thinner pipe which means you'd have had to stretch it over the rad fitting, I used the thicker pipe and used a small piece of thin pipe inside the thick one and jubilee clipped it in position.
Like this, you can see mine is 13mm

i jusy orderd some 37mm superflex. i think its 37mm anyways. comes in 1m lengths so i bought two. it may not look as untidy when the engine cover is back on.

And as for the fat end at the rad side, washing up liquid and a bit of force! it is silicone after all! Both lengths of mine are 8mm ID
